I’m starting to understand why Enivea likes to visit the beach. Especially this place called Southend on the Limestone Coast of South Australia.

We did another trip there last week, on a perfect day weather wise. Blue sky, slight breeze, warm but not too hot – just what I ordered! Yap! One of the nicest aspects of this coastline, is that it’s not crowded – and that means I don’t have to wear that horrible lead – yay! In the morning, we went to the beach just north of the township, and timing was just right – cos the tide was out! Plenty of good paddling space. Yep, that’s what I like…… In the afternoon, we took off along the cliffs, but I’ll leave that story to Enivea to tell you later. For now, enjoy the pics we took

To catch a cow

Enivea and I had some pretty important work to do this morning, and despite the initial foggy damp conditions I worked hard and brought it all together – including getting the sun out. We caught a cow. This is how we did it.

First, stalk down the cow. It’s somewhere in this great big paddock……

Yep, there it is. It’s seen me, I’ll have to be extra careful and quietly head it into the right direction…..

The spiders are everywhere this morning…….

They build amazing webs don’t they!

Strong enough too, to catch a cow!

See!!! It worked! That’s how you catch a cow!

A day in the life of – a photographer’s assistant.

As you may have gathered by now, I’m a pretty talented dog. What you may not have realised, is the vital role I play for Enivea, as her assistant on photography shoots.

Take what I had to do this week for instance, when she decided to do a cattle shoot. You know what they say about never working with children or animals? Ha! How right they were! But thanks to my expertise, it all succeeded.

First of all, I had to explain to their self-appointed leader, what was involved, and of course, make him feel special, so that it would guarantee full co-operation. I know all about psychology you see…..

Yes, this looks a good spot for the shoot.

First shot – I suggested we title it – Alone at Daybreak.

Then it was on to organise the rest of the mob.

I gathered them together, and then at the perfect moment, hustled them up!

Titled – The rise of the cattle. Nice golden light isn’t it. I even organised the sun just right.

Then there was much discussion about the next set of shots.

Cattle are simple creatures, I had to repeat the instructions again and again….sigh…..

I kept stressing the point about getting it right the first time!

There’s always one who wants a solo part…..I had to be very tough with this prima donna.

Got that sorted. Then it was, come on, follow me!

Yes, that wasn’t too bad. Any suggestions for a title on this ?

But things didn’t always go as planned……

NO NO NO! Not like that -didn’t you listen to me?!

Okay Enivea, I’ve got them all ready, just give me the word and I’ll set them off.

Action!!

This one is called – The Dust Up

I’m not happy about the title she gave this one – Watching the Dust Up – bit boring really!

So you see, I’m a very important busy dog, although I do know about keeping a balance to life, and making sure I get plenty of sleep and rest also.

One day, it’s all hot and sunny. The next morning, it’s all cloudy and grey. I looked and I looked, searched high and low, and nope, couldn’t find the sun anywhere……

Setting the record straight

Listen well my friends, to what I have to say. I do NOT dislike water. I grew up alongside a river, and would spend my days playing in and alongside it. Sometimes I’d even catch yabbies in the river! And once I almost caught a fish, but it got away…… It was a big one too!!

Sometimes the river flooded, but I was too smart to try to go in it then, and would wait until it was safe to lead Sally the horse across. NEVER try to cross a flooded river! Once Enivea and Sally and I went off for a short ride up the road, and while we were away, the river came down and was a raging torrent – in only 10 minutes! We had to take a long way home – instead of five minutes, it took us three hours to get home! I even got a lift on Sally for some of the way, cos my little legs had to work hard to keep up with Sally’s.

So as you can see, I’ve had lots of adventures at the river. Sadly, I don’t live there anymore…..

Anyway, enough of all this yapping on, here’s the pics to PROVE I don’t have an aversion to water. W-A-T-E-R.

It’s that strange salty stuff I don’t like. Yet…..

We’re finally getting some good summer weather, and after chasing some rabbits and generally having a good run-about today, I checked out where I could practice my paddling. Yep, these cattle troughs are pretty good – much deeper than the sheep troughs, and a dog can really have a good cool off while doing the laps!

When only the best will do.

Enivea and I had a slight disagreement about the title of this post. She wanted to call it – Fred hits the bottle! The cheek of her! What is more to the point, I’m a dog of refined taste. And that bio-dynamic milk from Paris Creek is the best money can buy – all the more reason to try to get the very last drop from it!
